This mug is almost a complete copy of the mug No. 521 - 24 of Artyom's trapezoid 0.25 l 1940, except that the facets on this mug are shortened on both sides and, accordingly, the volume designation is cast on both sides. Let's figure out why. In the overwhelming majority of beer mugs, the volume designation, filling line and verification mark are applied to the beer mug "handle on the right". And the drawings on the mug are either opposite the handle, or "the handle on the right" (a rare exception "the handle on the left" - # 213 Barnaya Suzdal 0.5 l. 72 g). This is understandable. When you take a beer mug with your right hand, you have before your eyes a drawing, and the designation of the volume, and the line of filling. But we have about every eighth left-hander. So in 1938, during the period of the grandiose construction of the state, where there should have been no discrimination on national, social or any other grounds, they tried to eliminate this injustice. Whichever hand you take a mug - everything is in front of your eyes. But everything was spoiled by metrologists. The verification office checked the mug once, respectively, the filling line and the verification mark were applied to one side. Therefore, in the future, the idea of a double-sided mug was abandoned, in 1940 the designation of the volume, the filling line and the verification mark were already "handle on the right". And after the war, when a ledge on the rim became a line of the filling, it became irrelevant at all.
