Description
The history of the Exhibition which this mug contacts in essence begins in 1927 at the XV congress of All-Union Communist Party (bolsheviks).
Except cancellation of the New Economic Policy, an exception of party of Trotsky and Trotskyists, and also the approval of directives on creation of the first five-year plan the decision on collectivization of agriculture has been made. The decision to build the All-Union agricultural exhibition has been made in 1935, at the Second All-Union congress of collective farmers-drummers. The exhibition is had been decided to be opened on August 1, 1937 to the 20 anniversary of the Soviet power.
Works on VSHV began with the second half of 1935. Pavilions were made of standard wooden details. Work went slowly, but by July, 1937 there were already pavilions of Belarus, Ukraine, the general pavilion of the Transcaucasian republics, Tataria, Turkmenistan, Mechanization, the Main pavilion, the pavilion of Beet, Vegetables, etc. It wasn't succeeded to construct the Exhibition to term, new term — was appointed on August 1, 1938. At the same time decided to increase service life of pavilions till 5 years.
To open the Exhibition to August 1, 1938 also proved to be impossible, and the opening was delayed for another year.. In four months prior to the final term of opening of the Exhibition N. S. Khrushchev who was just made the first secretary of the Central Committee of Ukraine has examined the Ukrainian pavilion and remained him is dissatisfied. "Ukraine — a granary of the Soviet Union — he has told — and the pavilion is worse than the pavilion of Moscow". It should be noted that before, in 1937 when Khrushchev was the first secretary of All-Union Communist Party (bolsheviks) of MK, he has ordered to break and build anew the pavilion of Moscow because that was, in his opinion, it is worse than the others, in particular the pavilion of Ukraine.
In July, 1939, less than a month before opening of the Exhibition, Vera Mukhina's sculpture "The worker and the collective farmer" has been transported from Paris where it had great success on "Expo-37", and mounted on the access avenue to the Main entrance of VSHV. Because of a lack of time, to big chagrin of V. I. Mukhina, pedestal height for a statue has constituted only ten meters (unlike 34 meters in Paris).
The forgotten and imperceptible waste ground of northeast border of Moscow has turned into the unique exhibition city where on 136 hectares have been presented 52 pavilion not similar at each other and 200 more various structures. In one territory it was possible to see the best achievements of a national economy, to enjoy walk on green parks, to admire the cascade of ponds.
On August 1, 1939 the All-Union agricultural exhibition, at last, has been solemnly open. At a ceremony there were 10 thousand people, including eminent persons of party and government of the Soviet Union. In the first 85 days of work of the Exhibition she was visited by over 3,5 million people!
